    Counter Clockwise and hold the motor shaft from the backside as well , you can pop the motor end cap and grab the shaft with a socket or a wrench,

I have a Sta-Rite pump that was running dry for many hours (big oops) I have tried to prime it and start it and although the pump makes a sound and water initially flows into it and out of it, it never catches. Is there anything I can do to repair it or do I have to bite the bullet and buy a new pump?
