Winterizing Vinyl Inground Pool Steps
By When the winter time comes and you need to remove all the water from your swimming pool plumbing you will have to do something called “blowing out your lines” or otherwise known as winterizing your swimming pool plumbing. One of the things you need to make sure you winterize is the vinyl pool step returns inside of your pool. You can winterize your pool steps by using a air compressor or shop vac to blow the water from the lines and then you will want to use a #10 Black Rubber Plug to stop the pool water from returning inside of the pools pluming.
The first thing you will want to do is to hook up the compressor or shop vacuum to your pump and then start blowing the water out of the lines and into the pool. Once you start seeing air bubble you can then take your #10 rubber plug and insert it into the return jet on your swimming pool steps. Once you do so you will want to tighten down the wing nut on the plug until the air bubble stop coming out from behind the plug. Once you have one return plugged up you can move on to the next one.
