Question:
I have A Hayward pump on above ground pool. Pump is hardwired, unplugged two days ago, plugged back in today and motor hums. Checked impeller and moves back and forth with ease. After a few seconds the thermal kicks the motor off. Tried hitting motor with hammer to free up, to no avail. Any other suggestions would be helpful. Is there a capacitor that may have gone bad, and where is the switch located that may be stuck open I keep reading about? Thanks again. JasonWhere Is The Switch Located On Hayward Pool Pump

Answer:

Hi Jason.

Yes, The Hayward Superpump has both a “switch capacitor”.

If you look at the back of the pump you can remove the back cover and see both,

Joseph
