OverLap Above Ground Pool Liner Replacement

If you need to change the liner in your above ground pool and you have determined that it is an "overlap" style then this guide will be for you. If you have an S-bead or J-bead liner this above ground swimming pool overlap liner replacement guide may give you an idea of what you need to do but an overlap liner does install a bit differently. The first thing you will need to do is to get all the tools and the new liner ready. You will need a small shop vacuum, razor knife, a small rake, a cordless drill with a screwdriver bit and a pump or hose to drain down the pool. After you have gather those tools you will want to put the pump into the pool and remove all the water. Once all the water has been drained from the above ground swimming pool you will now want to get inside the swimming pool and you will want to use a razor knife to cut the liner out of the pool. You will also want to cut the liner into small pieces as well because if you don't the one large piece of liner might be to heavy for you to carry. After you have removed the old liner from the pool you will want to now start removing the corner caps and the top railings from the pool with your cordless drill. Once you have removed the caps and the railings you will want to remove the top rial of the pool that is holding the liner lock into place. Now that you removed the top rail you can pull the liner lock off of the top of the pool wall and then remove the remaining piece of liner that was overlapped on the pool wall. Next you will want to remove the skimmer and the return fitting from the pool wall. Your next step will be to make sure that the bottom of the pools surface is generally smooth. If there are high or low spots, or even places that need to be filled in you can do so at this time. You can use pool base or pool sand to fill in the holes or spots that are uneven on the bottom, You will then want to take your rake and smooth the bottom of the pool. Once all of the liner is out of the pool and you have smoothed and raked the bottom of the pool you will be ready to install the new above ground pool liner. You will want to get s couple of people together to help you drape the new liner over the pool wall. Once you set the new liner into place, you will want to start to place the liner lock onto the pool wall and then the liner to hold it into place. The next step is to start to re-assemble the pool in the reverse order that you tool it apart. After the liner is set in place and the liner lock is holding the liner onto the wall, you will want to place on the top rail system. The next thing you will want to do now is to grab the garden hose and start filling the pool. As the pool fills up watch for wrinkles forming on the bottom and be sure to pull them out as the pool fills. If you have any questions, Please feel free to ask them below.
