Above Ground Pool Liner Replacement Requirements
If you are looking to replace the liner in your above ground swimming pool there are some things you will need to know beforehand. You will need to know the size of your pool, what type of liner you have inside the pool and also how to drain and refill the pool.
Before you can change the liner in your pool you will need to find out what type of liner you have in the pool. There are three different styles of above ground pool liners. The three different types of liners are called the overlap pool liner, s-bead pool liner and the J-bead above ground pool liner.
If the liner in your pool folds over the outside of the pool wall you have an overlap pool liner. If your above ground pool liner clips into a track that hangs on the pool wall you have a J-bead pool liner. If your pool liner hangs on the wall with a small S that is built into the top of the liner you have a S-bead liner.
Draining Your Above Ground Pool
Once you have figured out what type of liner you have in your above ground pool you will need to now drain the pool free of all water so you can be ready to remove the old pool liner. There are a few ways that you can drain your above ground swimming pool. The first way you can drain your pool is to use a pool cover pump or a submersible pump. If you do not have a pump you can use the pool vacuum hose or a garden hose and you can start a siphon, which will take a bit longer then using a pump but will work.Removing The Old Above Ground Pool Liner
Once you have removed and drained all the water from the pool you can begin to remove the old pool liner from the pool. You can cut the liner with a razor knife into strips so it will be easier to life out of the pool. Its also best to remove the old pool liner while you are standing inside the pool. Working from inside the above ground pool is easier then hanging over the pool wall or from a deck to work on the pool.Installing The New Above Ground Pool Liner
Now that the old pool liner is removed from the pool you will be able to see all the pool sand or pool base. You want to make sure that there are no huge holes on the bottom of the pool surface. If there are spots that need to be filled in, then you should make sure to with some pool sand or base. Once you have raked and made sure that the bottom surface of the pool is smooth you will be ready to install the new liner in your above ground pool.Refilling The Above Ground Pool With Water
Once you have installed the new liner it will be time to fill up your above ground pool. You can use the garden hose or hire a water truck to come to your home to fill up the pool. While the pool is filling you will want to pull the line back towards the wall to make sure that you do not have wrinkles on the bottom of your pool after it fills. You can use a shop vacuum to pull all the air from behind the liner as the pool is filling as well to simulate the water being in the pool. You can stick the shop vacuum hose though the return fitting. If you have any questions or need some help, Please feel free to leave a reply below.
