Air Bubbles Coming Into The Pool At The Jets

Question: My 24' above ground pool is about 20 years old but usually runs pretty good. Now I notice that there are bubbles coming into the pool at the jet and the motor is louder than usual. All my hoses are new and can't see any visible leaks anywhere else. Not losing any water either. Could it be sucking in air from somewhere? If so where should I look? ~ Carol Answer: Hi Carol, The good news is that you have a common problem that most pool owners experience at some time or another. Most likely your drain plugs, pump seal, cover gasket, or pump fittings are allowing air to be sucked into the pump rather then water. Here are a few articles I have written in the past that will help you out tremendously ;-) Your Pool Pump Will Suck Air! http://wetheadmedia.com/your-pool-pump-will-suck-air/ Hayward Power-Flo Troubleshooting & Repair Guide http://wetheadmedia.com/hayward-power-flo-troubleshooting-repair-guide/ I also have a whole section on: Pool Pump Troubleshooting http://wetheadmedia.com/reviews/pool-pump-troubleshooting/ You can also watch this video as well: Hayward Pool Pump Troubleshooting: http://video.wetheadmedia.com/hayward-pool-pump-troubleshooting I would check all drain plugs, pump fittings,(Re Teflon Tape Them) and off course check the cover gasket.
