Blowing Out The Polaris Line On The Pool Closing

When its time to close the swimming pool you will have to blow out the swimming pool lines and also the Polaris Pump lines if you have an automatic pool cleaner called the Polaris. In this picture below you can see Dan getting ready to what we call "plug up" the opening of the Polaris Pump Line. The Compressed air from the compressor pushes all of the water out of the pipe and then air will start to come out causing the fitting to bubble as you can see in this picture. Once air has blown though the pipes for a few minutes you can stick in the black rubber plug or Hayward threaded o-ring plug to seal off the opening as you can see Dan doing in this picture. After the plug is inserted into the Polaris line opening it should be tightened down until it stops bubbling like you can see below. When using a black rubber plug you will want to make sure that you tighten down on the wing nut really well. If you are usingĀ  a Hayward threaded plug with an o-ring you will want to make sure to use the threaded plug tool to tighten that down. After the plug is installed the compressor gets shut off and then you can make sure that the plug is water tight. If you see no bubbles coming from the line then the line will be sealed off most of the time. You can see Dan here looking to make sure the plug is tight and not leaking. If you are not sure its always best to re blow out the swimming pool lines. Its better to be safe then sorry as they say.
