I am having the same problem!!!! I had no leaks today and as I was adjusting chemicals, I went back over and cut the pool off for a moment and when I turned it back on, water started gushing from under the handle. It is a Heyward and we had the pool put in 16 years ago. Never had any problems with the filter until today.
I read somewhere online that I would have to buy the entire assembly up top. Is this true??? There is NOTHING I can do?

I noticed this thread was pretty old, but hopefully someone will read this that can help me, PLEASE!!!! I retired this year and money is tighter than it used to be.

Now it’s leaking out the very top of the filter head from under the handle, should I have used a sealant under the plastic washer under the handle or is something else causing the leak. It looks as if a piece is broken off that would have gone straight up into the center of the head assembly but not sure what it was? New pool to us.

I have a Proline 22″ high rate sand filter. It is leaking somewhere from the pump behind the trap. Only leaks when the pump is shut off. Is there any kind of apoxy spray I could use or would you do something else?
