One of the owners is quite elderly, ill and weak, but enjoys swimming. He has requested that an additional handrail be placed a couple of feet away from the existing handrail that’s located by the steps in the shallow end of the pool. This will allow him more stability when entering the pool. Many of the other owners would like to accomodate the gentleman (and other elderly owners currently living in the complex), but some have brought up the issue of having two rails posing a safety issue for children. Does anyone know if it’s advisable to install a second handrail in the pool? Also is there a recommended (or regulated) distance that must be between the two railings? Thanks.
