I opened the pool, and everything seemed to be operating normally. Once shocked the pool and waited for the liquid chlorine to take effect, most algae had dropped to the bottom, so I got ready to vacuum the pool and it was going well until dark green water came spewing out from the return. No problem, I clean the filter. Now the filter seems to be working in reverse. When I turn the filter on and open the valve on the top of the filter to let air escape as the filter fills, air goes into the filter instead of out, and there is no water movement. The motor works and the impeller is free. Not sure what to do next. Water has turned dark green again and I may never get the pool open. :(

I have recently replastered (6 weeks ago) with pebblesheen. I have a new pump. I have replaced top manifold, all 8 grids, main lid seal, stand pipe o-ring(twice), push pull backwash valve, air bleed valve ass, drain plug, and gauge on my Hayward pro grid DE 3620 with genuine Hayward parts. The water is perfectly clear until water is agitated. It then clouds for 20 sec or so in the area of disturbance then is clear. Upon filter charge After filter clean DE comes from return jets like confetti. When vaced it comes right back through. Pool conditioner passes filter ass well. I have inspected thoroughly and can not find any issues. I and going to replace push pull valve seals tonight. If that doesn’t work then what?
Hayward vs 2303 pump…. DE3630 filter( all new except canister and clamp at this point) all new plumbing, 3way valve, check valve, designated vac line.
Water temp 71 F
CF 3.2 ppm
CC .1 ppm
PH 7.5
Alk 100ppm
Cal hard 140 ppm
CY 41 ppm
TDS 423 ppm
Phosphates *********2500 ppm plus. ********
Add 8 oz orenda or-10000 last night will vac and test tonight. Water already clear again..
I Have maintained this pool on my own for 8 years and have never had filter bypass of any kind!

It seems that the media is not releasing the de during backwash. Is it time to replace the filter pads?

Today, after hooking it all up, I tried to run it but it doesn’t seem to draw water from the pool or send it back out. Pretty sure I have it all connected correctly and filled pool and filter/pump before starting. Have not added DE yet as I thought I needed to wait until water cycled through a few times. The pool is green and I can’t chlorinate until I get the pump and filter going (or can I?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

However, when I turn the heater on, a white substance (maybe DE) is coming into the pool. When I don’t run the heater this doesn’t happen. Any suggestions?
