Please Help! The timer moter on my Intermatic T101 keeps burning out withen an HOUR of installation I done this with three (3) units already, All my Neutral wires are connected to the 1st pin, My Hot wire is connected to the 2nd pin and the load (feed to my PUMP) is connected to the 3rd pin. All my ground wired are connected to th METAL BOX of the unit This is a replacement of an old unit that was installed years ago. As a reminder, or if you didnt know, the Intermatic T-101 is ment for 110v pumps. The ON/OFF togel switch works fine and I do get power.

I have a Hayward power-flo LX pump, 1.0 hp 60gpm
I used this on my pool for 2 years until I came across a larger system, so I kept my hayward for a backup. I was going to use it to vacuum the pool, seemed to be an easy idea, place one hose on my vacuum head and a discharge hose outside the pool. Plug it in and clean house, except pump never primed so I thought it may work better with gravity feed rather than suction up and over pool wall. To assist my defiant pump, I imitated gravity feed by placing my garden hose into pumps feeding tube to make sure it was adequality primed and made sure there were no chance of air in system this was done under the water level. Pump seemed to begin to operate as long as hose was in the feed tube. Once removed, even thou we were under water the lack of suction allowed the pump to stop pulling water out of the pool. I did a quick inspection looking for leaks, water or air. I pulled main cover off thinking maybe, just maybe the O-ring was worn/tore and may be the culprit of my problem. So, I ordered and replaced O-ring, and triple checked all other possibilities and found none. No reason not to work other than the pump is incapable of pulling water whatsoever and is in need of a constant positive gravity flow of water to work whatsoever. I am at a loss and worst yet, the bottom of my pool is covered with dead algae dust which is a pain to catch in a filter due to it’s micro-size particles.

Trying to replace heating element in my Rheem electric water heater, however the people at Rheem do not know how to measure heating element lengths, because they refuse or neglect to define where they measure from.
Thus they completely negate their advertisement where I sought to buy 2 heating elements.
What are they thinking?

In my experience, it is best to invest in a high quality pool pump. Cheap ones fail too often. Replacing them in an emergency is a challenge, and if not done quickly, the water quality deteriorates so the pool can’t be used.
