Make sure you do the research before putting in a tankless water heater. Our elecricity usuage actually went up after getting rid of an old electric heater and installing a Rinnai, primarily because we waste so much “cold” water until the hot water gets to the faucets. Plus, now we are burning propane for the Rinnai. We plan to install a small electric heater “after” the Rinnai so we have some storage available, and to avoid the variations in water temperatures (cold-water sandwich) whenever another user in the house turns on a faucet. We never had that problem before the tankless. It was a BIG and EXPENSIVE mistake, but it’s too late to turn back now.
Did you increase in energy costs ?? Even we were thinking of switching over to tankless water heaters, but were worried about the electricity consumption. There are few diesel boilers out in the market but then I think electric water heaters would be better than fuel based ones. Im confused!!
