The Taco OO5 like the other pumps in the 00 series has a one of a kind replacement cartridge. This cartridge houses all of the inner workings of the pump. If you need a repair on these pumps, rather than spending money on a brand new pump you can just replace the cartridge. There are 2 different styles of Taco 005 pumps, the Taco 005-F2 which has a Cast Iron Casing and the Taco 005-BF2 which has a Bronze Casing. The letters on the model numbers are F= Cast Iron Flanged, BF= Bronze Flanged.
The other materials inside the pumps are made from a sturdy a long lasting construction. The Casing or Volute of the pump is made from Cast Iron or Bronze, the Stator Housing is made from Steel, the Cartridge is made from Stainless Steel, the Impeller is made from a non metallic material, the Shaft is a Ceramic Material, the Bearings are Carbon and the O-Rings and Gaskets are made from EPDM material.
Unlike some other circulator pumps, the Taco 005 has a quiet running operation. You will never know that the pump is running and it is very quiet. The Taco 005 has a standard high capacity output, a compact design which works for small space installs plus the smaller the unit the less power it will use to run it, thereby saving you money in the long run. Now that we have told you about the construction and the purposes of the Taco 005, let’s talk about the performance of the pump. The Flow Range of the 005 is 0-18 gallons per minute; the head range is 0-9.5 feet. The lowest temperature allowed for Fluid Temperature is 40 degrees Fahrenheit and the most allowed is 230 degrees Fahrenheit. The Maximum Working Pressure on the Taco 005 is 125 psi. The 005 is available with connections choices of 3/4″, 1″ 1-1/4″ and 1-1/2″ flanged.
The motor and electrical information is the motor works on 1/35 horsepower with a 115 volts and 60 Hz. The motor is a single phase with .53 and .54 amps and RPM’s of 3250. The 005-F2 runs on the .53 amps and the 005-BF2 runs on the .54 amps. The other motor specs are equal on both models.
