Stokvis Boilers: Riomay Solar Heating System Review

Stokvis Boilers: Riomay Solar Heating System Review One of the larger companies in the United Kingdom is STOKVIS; they specialize in Solar Heating Systems. STOKVIS caters to the commercial buildings in the United Kingdom; some examples of their clients are schools, hospitals and office buildings. Why do so many commercial buildings choose to use STOKVIS Solar Heating Systems, in the United Kingdom is just makes sense. In England, the wind turbines don’t have any positive effects on the terrain and other sources such as biomass fuel requires daily deliveries and a lot of storage space that some commercial buildings just don’t have.

With Solar Heating, it takes as little as 30 minutes to heat up the panels and provide heating and energy for days. With some locations in the United Kingdom that have more sun than others, they will reap the benefits even more. STOKVIS is one of those companies that provide free and clean energy. Solar Heating is the most reliable and realistic source of energy in the UK.

Riomay is one of STOKVIS is one of the best solar heating systems in the United Kingdom. One reason for that is the Ecotube solar collector. This tube was designed to maximize the collection of the sun’s energy. Tubes such as the Ecotube are called evacuated tube systems; this is when energy is used by the system while it is in the process of converting solar energy to heat. It is almost like heat loss through a boiler system.

The Ecotube prevents the loss of energy because it does not need large pumps to do it. The Ecotube uses smaller circulator pumps to pass around the fluid in the tube to provide heat and energy. Each Ecotube provides about 750kWh per square metre per year while the system is in the direct heat method and when the system is in preheat mode the square metres are 850kW.

Some of the features of the Ecotube include, it’s high transmittance glass that is pretty transparent to the solar energy itself. The Ecotube offers a highly efficient coating on the absorber plate. This will help increase the amount of solar energy absorbed into the Ecotube and will decrease the heat loss caused by radiation.

Some other features of the Ecotube are the concentric pipe with direct flow design that allows the panel to be place in any position. The glass and metal components will expand and contract at the same exact rate when the temperature changes. This makes the system more reliable in any season whether it is the winter or summer.

Each panel offers 2.461 in Gross Collector Area, each panel offers 1500 kWh and an expansion vessel capacity of approximately 18. When these panels are installed there is a maximum number of panels to be connected that is 8. The minimum distance between the panels in which they can be connected is 150mm.

Q: Can the Ecotube Panels be installed in residential homes?

A: no, currently the Ecotube panels are designed for larger, commercial buildings

Q: Can the Riomay Solar Heating System be used on seasonal business?

A: Yes, the Riomay System is perfect to business such as Bed and Breakfast, Caravan Park and even in businesses that have an ongoing need for hot water peaks especially in the summer months

Q: How does the Ecotube system work?

A: The panels are used an as indirect system designed to heat water. The fluid is passed through each panel, which allows for better performance even on the clear cooler days in the winter.

    1. As an installer of the Ecotube system I can endorse its power and flexibility. The Ecotube produces more energy than any other system that Eco2 Solar install but it is its flexibility that is the unique quality.

Because the collector fins themselves can be rotated to catch the sun at any angle this means that the Ecotube panel can be installed on a flat roof or even a wall and the “pitch” of the collector is still at the optimum angle to absorb radiation – without using expensive frames to prop up the panels!

Eco2 Solar are now also fitting the smaller brother of the Ecotube into many many residential houses!
