You won’t have to spend hours and hours standing over your swimming pool with a vacuum pole on hot summer days. Simply place these machines into the pool and set a cycle time and when you come home from work you are ready to swim. There are two residential swimming pool cleaners that work the best, Smart Pools offer the Robo-Kleen. The Robo- Kleen Robotic Swimming Pool Cleaner is for above ground swimming pools. For round swimming pools, the factory angle that the machine is set to is perfect and for oval swimming pools, try removing the limit screw (see the manual) for a wider angle from the tandem wheels.

If you are looking for an in-ground automatic swimming pool cleaner try The Nitro Robotic Swimming Pool Cleaner. The way the Nitro comes is preset with angles that offer cleaning for the entire swimming pool no matter what size it is. Some Robotic Swimming Pool Cleaners are powered by the current of the water’s circulation but the Robo- Kleen is powered by electricity that is connected to your own filter system. This makes for a more efficient and powerful cleaning. It is important to mention that you should never enter a swimming pool that has a robotic swimming pool cleaner in it.

  1. Same issue as Lyn – the silly thing just goes back and forth about 3 feet at a time. It cleans that 3-foot patch very well. The rest of the pool, though, is untouched and uncleaned. I find myself pulling it around to get at other spots. Vacuuming would be just as easy.

  2. Oh, I forgot to mention the problem with my latetst one. It only works if it’s upside down….
    Go Figure !!!!!

  3. Yea Rick. Thats the same problem i had with my first one. It would just do about a 3 foot strip. Another problem i discoverd myself was the screw on the metal bracket on one of my rear wheels had fallen out which also casued it do the same thing.

  4. I have owned two. JUNK, but work great when they work. first one broke (turn on and turn off as soon as wheels start to spin) after 1 yr and a couple months. Bought a second one same thing happened yesterday. I am pissed I have to go thru this. Two, and they both break. AMAZING. I Think I am just going to figure out the over load circuit and that pops the relay and do something about it. Not buying a third.

  7. I posted earlier concerning the ROBO-KLEEN turning on and turning off as soon as wheels start to spin after six months to a year. I took the first one a part and found that the drive motor is fried. Smells like burnt circuitry. Looks burnt up, brushes burnt. This is what is causing the unit to turn off. it is caused by the increased resistance the motor is pulling, which mine is frozen, so it is a direct short. It is obviously overheating and that is probably because the motor is undersized to handle the loads placed on it. Also the motor has a heavy metal ring around it which is not helping with heat dissipation and the motor sits in a hollow plastic shell which i am sure is acting like an oven by holding the heat inside the hollow area. So there is a cooling issue. So based on the design it will probably never last long, as noted by the many, many post on the subject. DESIGN FLAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the motor is brushed, NOT BRUSHLESS. However it is advertised on many websites as brushless. Although SMART POOLS says nothing about it being brushless. Websites also advertise the motors as being water cooled, not so for the drive motors. Makes you wonder. I am going to ask for the new drive motor until to be sent to me so I can just fix it myself. I do not want to have to box it up and send it to them.

Bottom line is that they need to fix the design.

I guess I should say I am an Electrical Engineer
