We have to replace our broken check valve on our above ground Hayward Perflex. However, the “tube” portion of the original valve is stuck, and we can’t figure out how to remove it. Would it have been glued in when we bought it? Our pump is about 10 years old.- Nancy

Hi Nancy,
You will have to remove part #25 in the repair diagram below by opening the tank and removing the clips that are part #24 in the Hayward Perflex pool filter diagram that I have posted below.
This is if you are talking about replacing the internal swing check body assembly which is sounds like you are trying to do.
