My Water Heater Is Leaking

WeT HeaD Knowledge

Water heaters can leak from a number of places on the tank and also from the plumbing and fittings connected to the water heater tank. Depending on what is leaking will determine if it is worth repairing. For example if the tank on your water heater is all rusted out, it will be more cost effective to just replace the entire heater Vs replacing just the rotted out rusted tank. However if something like the T & P valve on your water heater is leaking or dripping it can be easily repaired by a licensed plumber.

The first thing you will need to do is to determine where the water heater is leaking from, You can do this by looking yourself or you can hire a plumber to come and give you an estimate and tell you what part on your water heater is actually causing it to leak. If you do determine that the tank is all rusted out on the bottom you should start shopping around for a new water heater.
