How To Hire A Swimming Pool Installer

WeT HeaD Knowledge

We were thinking about installing a new above ground swimming pool. I had no idea how to go about doing so. I decided to start with the basics and work my way up. The first thing I had to do was decide the location of my new pool. Some counties you need to have a permit so make sure that you check with your town before putting up a swimming pool. Once I had a location picked out that did not interfere with any septic systems or utility lines, I was ready to go.

I wanted to start calling installers right away but I realized I had not even chosen a swimming pool yet. So I sat down with my family and we discusses the different brands of pools like Esther Williams, Doughboy or Johnny Weissmuller. Once we had a brand we needed a size, we chose something that was not going to be too hard to maintain and hopefully not too expensive to install. We set a budget price on the pool itself and shopped online until we found the pool of our dreams.

The next thing I needed to do is to make a list of qualified swimming pool contractors. At first I was going to start calling everyone who had a pool company but it was brought to my attention that I should hire a licensed company for the installation just in case something went wrong. I looked through the phone books but I really found more information on the web. Most companies have websites and by checking out the websites I could get a better feel for what the company does and how the work will look when it was done.

Now that I had my list, the pool location and the style of pool I wanted. I was ready to call an installer. After a call or two I had down pat exactly what I needed to know. I made a checklist of things to ask, such as what materials would be needed and if I would have to provide them, how much per inch if my backyard had to be leveled, how long would the job take and how soon could I get started.

I understood that not every company would be cheap but I was determined to save money where I could. So I called everyone on my list first and then go over the list and remove the installers whose prices were too high. I narrowed down my list and I ended up with a few companies. I decided to have them come out and check out where I wanted to put the pool. I did this so if I hired one of these companies, there would be no surprises when it came to installation.

After meeting with the installer and reviewing their prices, I chose an installer who fit my price range, had a great installation schedule and who would not have a problem installing my pool where I wanted it. This process took a few days but it was worth the wait.
