We were in the snack aisle checking out the chips and pretzels when I saw a cardboard display but honestly, paid it no mind. But, the youngest of my Irish twins did. We were happily strolling around until, I saw him eating something and when I checked, it was a toilet bowl clip on deodorizer! Those ones that you get 2 for a buck.
I pushed that cart so fast to the meat counter that my feet wasn’t touching the floor. I ran that buzzer with a heavy hand and when the butcher came running out I was screaming, ” OH, MY GOD HE ATE A TOILET BOWL DEODORIZER!”
The butcher went into action, he was calm and already had the phone and was dialing. I told him, “I NEED THE POISON CONROL CENTER!” He started telling me he was the father to 12 kids and KNEW that number by heart!
There on the phone was another calm person who asked me the size of the bite mark on the deodorizer, he was saying, ” is it the size of the dime or quarter?” “I was crying,”a dime, oh my God, a dime, smaller than a dime., just a little tiny piece”
I was elated to find out that the dime-size was good for he would just get diarrhea. Any bigger and it was a trip to the ER, these things are very dangerous and very poisonous.
I had a talk later with the owner of the store about that display being in the snack aisle. I was just satisfied it was moved to an appropriate place and very grateful, my son was okay.
