Depending on what state you live in will depend on how much you will receive of your new appliance. The stimulus plan gives each state a certain amount of money that they will be able to issue to you in the form of a rebate check. This $300 Million “Cash for Appliances” Program will start this fall and is funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for state-run rebate programs, for consumer purchases of new ENERGY STAR qualified home appliances.
This means you can buy new appliances with the stimulus money and at the same time save even more money on your electric or fuel bills because the new appliances you will be buying will now be energy efficient. This “cash for appliances” program does not require you to turn in your old appliances either, which in turn makes this appliance stimulus package even more attractive to the consumer that is looking to save money on new appliances and also looking to have less of a carbon footprint on the earth. The appliance and water heater stimulus package program money amounts will be different depending on the state that you live in.
The Department of Energy expects the bulk of the $300 million to be awarded by the end of November. You should start thinking about the appliances that you need to replace in your home now so you can be ready to take advantage of this stimulus before all the money runs out and your stuck with your old appliances. Refrigerators will probably be the most popular in sales for this Appliance Stimulus Program or as many people like to call it the “Cash for Appliances”. According to the Program, appliances that will qualify you for these rebates are Central Air Conditioners, Clothes Washers, Dishwashers, Freezers, Oil and Gas Furnaces, Room Air Conditioners, Geothermal and Air Source Heat Pumps and Water Heaters. So be sure to look around your home and make a list of all the appliances you are going to want to replace with this stimulus money.
